I have been to many hotels around the world (from 5 stars to boutique) but when it comes to quirky and soul-ful hotel, Toe Library is definitely my top five! I met the owner and he is incredibly kind and helpful. But the rooms... oh boy, that is something else. We delayed our visits in Asakusa, Tokyo just because the kids want to stay longer inside the rooms 🙄. I won't give the details - it is best to be experienced - but I definitely will stay there for our future trip to Tokyo. Great experience!
Our week at TOE LIBRARY was, without a doubt, the highlight of our time in Tokyo. From the moment we stepped inside, it felt less like a hotel and more like stepping into someone’s beautifully curated, vintage home. The attention to detail in the decor—the antique books, the warm lighting, and the cozy atmosphere made it a sanctuary we looked forward to returning to every evening. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the incredible hospitality. The proprietor, Yoshi-san, is an absolute gem. Upon arrival, we were bracing ourselves for the trek up to the fifth floor, but Yoshi-san was so incredibly kind and gracious; he insisted on carrying all of our luggage up the five flights of stairs himself! He went above and beyond again at the end of our stay, personally handling the luggage forwarding to Kyoto for the next leg of our trip. It made our transition between cities completely seamless and stress-free. If you are looking for a stay that feels personal and welcoming, look no further. We cannot recommend TOE LIBRARY enough and are already dreaming of our next visit!
Everything was wonderful. The beds were insanely comfortable (the best beds of our trip) and we slept so well. The rooms were full of homey touches and amenities that made us feel like we were staying with friends. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestions and kind. They were always available on whatsapp to offer advice. The area was great, near to trains and the sites you want to see when visiting Tokyo. They also stored our bags after checkout and ensured our taxi driver to our next destination had the correct address. Amazing hospitality!
A wonderfully cozy place in Asakusa where you can feel the owner’s care for guests in every little detail. The rooms are not very big, but incredibly well thought out: everything you need for comfort is there, and even more (an instant camera with film and pajamas!). Yoshi is a warm and kind person: he helped us with our suitcases, and when we left he treated us with a bag of Japanese cookies and postcards of his place. I think it’s better to stay at least two nights or more to fully enjoy everything in your room and neighbourhood.
We stayed in October for 3 nights and loved our time there. The hotel is in a great area and the room we were in was a decent size for a hotel in Tokyo. The decor was really cool with loads of thoughtful touches like a Polaroid camera and film to use. The bed was very comfy which was appreciated after a long day of exploring. Yoshi the owner was super friendly and made us feel incredibly welcome. Definitely recommend!
