The food was absolutely incredible — every single dish was so delicious it felt like fireworks were going off in my mouth. Our table ordered almost everything on the menu, and there honestly wasn't a single disappointment. The Bali Kase Caesar Salad was beautifully balanced: crisp, creamy, silky smooth, with a wonderful combination of egg richness and sweet-tangy flavors. The Matsuzaka beef steak was exceptional. The meat was incredibly tender, with marbling that simply melted in the mouth. The beef tongue stew was equally impressive — unbelievably soft, served in a velvety, delicate broth that was comforting and elegant at the same time. And the Homemade Cream Cheese... oh my goodness. It was so good it nearly brought tears to my eyes. My absolute favorite, though, was the Deep-Fried Mehikari Fish. It was amazingly juicy, crispy on the outside, and so tender that you could eat the whole fish. The flavors were perfectly balanced and incredibly satisfying. As for the drinks, I still can't believe how good every single one was. We ordered sours, highballs, and wine, and each glass felt thoughtfully crafted. Everything was delicious. The service was wonderful as well. The young male staff member was incredibly attentive, very friendly, and always smiling. He had even visited Thailand before, which made the experience feel even more special. He was absolutely lovely. Thank you for existing. Experiences like this are exactly why we love this restaurant.
A fantastic Izakaya spot in Ikebukuro! They offer a wide variety of sake, including some excellent premium selections, along with fantastic food pairings that complement the drinks perfectly. A huge plus for travelers: the menu is available in both English and Chinese, and you can easily order via the provided tablet. It makes the whole experience completely stress-free if you don't speak Japanese. P.S. Thank you so much for the complimentary sake! Such a warm-hearted touch!
We had a very warm welcome at No Kaze. Even without any deeper knowledge of Japanese. The food was great. We had some Sashimi, the best egg omelet we had in during our stay in Japan and a wonderful steak. We already plan our next visit
When I walked in and heard Nujabes music playing, I knew this was going to be great. Definitely the best izakaya in Ikebukuro with each menu item more delicious than the last. There are a wide variety of food & drink options, all of them excellent. The service from the staff and the interior design of the venue is also very warm and inviting. I can’t wait to return again 🙏🏻.
We booked for four people and chose the 6,000-yen “nabe course” with motsunabe and the nomihōdai option. The interior is stylish, with an open kitchen at the center that gives the whole place a lively, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly throughout the evening. The food was excellent, with an international/fusion touch that worked really well. The crème brûlée dessert was especially memorable. The nomihōdai drink selection was wider than expected, which made the meal feel like an even better deal. Overall, the value for money is outstanding. We had a great time and would definitely come back.
