I am experienced in Japanese hostels and this one does it just fine. The hotel communicated with me in english very well. I booked a mixed room as a Solo traveler. They offered to change me to a female room simply because it was available. Everyone was friendly and nice, noticed and welcomed you if you left and came back. Doors did not close for the night.
Stayed here for 6 nights. Although the room is a bit old, the location is great and definitely worth the price. A special shoutout to the front desk staff, Ayu Ishikawa — she was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She even helped us call the Fuji bus company, which made a huge difference for us. Really appreciate her kindness and support. The hotel is truly lucky to have her on the team.
Room was okay, I stayed on bunkbed my room was for 4 person. This is bunkbed and not capsule since everything was build from steel and iron. You need to make your own bed (they only provide linen for futon, bed, and pillow… a bit self-service hotel isn’t? Towel was not available (bring your own/rent) Their shower on female room was rusty and seems Super OLD! I never see such this things in any hotel/hostel/airbnb/whatever I stay during my whole life trip in Japan. I have no idea why they not change new one? My room including breakfast but it can’t be called breakfast since only plain bread, beef soup without beef/sausage, and regular coffee. If you wish for eggs/another coffee type you need to pay extra 🫠🫠 Location was okay since Ikebukuro was famous area.. so you can get any convenience store easily. I wish they can upgrade their room and bed later on.
We stayed 4 nights at the Annex Building. We had 2 rooms and they're cleaned daily. Bath comes with all essentials. Kettle and hair dryer can pick up from the front desk. Staff are friendly and helpful. Allowed us to keep our luggage there before our check in time. There's a nice cafe below our block. 7-11 is just down the road. Pharmacy and Family mart and at the other end. Ikebukuro Station, Sunshine City and Narita Airport Shuttle bus stop are within walking distance. Also, many eateries are nearby.
