It was actually not bad. Although on the first day, I spent a long time figuring out the machine when checking in and getting the room key, the room (single room) was bigger than I expected, to be honest. Then, because I accidentally pressed a black button at night, I probably didn't press it again in the morning, and I tried pressing other switches for a long time, but the lights wouldn't turn on at all.Although I only know a tiny bit of Japanese, I still tried to communicate :) Also, I found their cleaning to be very thorough 😳🥹 I thought they would only change the towels, and to be honest, I was planning to reuse some things for environmental reasons 🥹 But seeing the room so clean, even the blankets and bed neatly made again, it definitely looked very comfortable for my OCD. 🫠But I always reorganize my personal belongings every time I clean. By the way, I saw some old Google comments saying someone lost their coins 🥴🤡🥹 So pitiful 😭. Speaking of which, I ran into the receptionist, who spoke to me in Japanese. It just so happened that I was wearing a Chiikawa character costume and planning to go to Chiikawa Park, so we chatted about our experiences, haha. Thanks, because I thought my light was broken, I asked her to check it, and when she pressed the black button, all the other lights worked again 🤭😆😭🥴🤡In short, thank you so much for your cooperation and guidance, and for even accompanying me upstairs. I'm really sorry 🙈😳😆...I hope there will be small indicators/hints for the light buttons in the future, especially for the buttons on black lights. The room's air conditioning is okay. However, I was worried about my slippers getting dirty, so I didn't wear them... and instead wore disposable slippers. Surprisingly, after hanging up the cleaning sign (they normally clean every three days), they even replaced my disposable cup and disposable slippers...🥹😭 The slippers were simply thrown away; -:.. But, speaking of the bathtub, if there's hair in it, it's a bit difficult to drain the water... so it's like a small swimming pool (for my feet)... :))) Soaking my feet? Lol... Also, the toilet...The bathroom exhaust fan is okay, but the toilet... :) Every time I finish using it, I have to squeeze some hand soap on it and then spray it with the showerhead to get rid of the smell QwQ. On the other hand, the bidet toilet is fully functional and very good!
My husband and I, along with 4 friends, stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in May. I definitely don’t regret staying at APA Hotel again, just like on my previous trips where I always chose APA Hotel. The check-in process was super easy with the self-service automatic system, even printing the access cards was fully automated through a machine. And name it the check-out process, you just need to drop the key in a box. The location is very strategic and accessible from 3 stations: Ueno Station, Keisei Ueno Station, and the closest one, Ueno Okachimachi Station. It’s also very close to Ameyoko Shopping Street, which is great for cheap shopping and food hunting. Nearby there are Uniqlo and GU Ueno Okachimachi, ABC Mart, Don Quito Ueno, Muji, Cosme, lot of thrifting stores, cosme and Magazine Stores selling the famous Legato bags. What made it even better was how close it was to Halal Ninja Ramen. Family Mart and Seven Eleven are also just nearby. I really don’t regret choosing APA Hotel Ueno Ekiminami.
Ueno, Tokyo was the last stop of our Japan trip. Apa Hotel Ueno Eki Minami was a great hotel for it's modern design, and it was super clean and the staff we're extremely friendly. It's location was perfect, as the moment you walk out of the hotel, you are surrounded by an abundance of great restaurants and TONS of shops. It is also extremely close to the train station so it's convenient when you need to take the train and go far. The room was a bit small but was good enough for the two of us. Additionally, we stayed on the 12th floor, and with only 2 elevators, it could get crowded or be a bit of a long wait at times. However, it was still a great experience overall and I would definitely go back.
I stayed for 5 nights with my grandma and this hotel is the best out of all the hotels I stayed with in Tokyo in my previous trips. Room - we stayed in a Standard Room good for 2. It fit our 1 big luggage but it is not that spacious, same with other hotels in Japan. You can put it under the bed though if you want more space. There is a centralized heating/cooling and it was not cold for us during winter. You can open the window if you feel it’s hot inside the room. Amenities - everything I needed was there. TV, electric kettle, slippers, towels, robes, hair dryer, free coffee and tea sachets, paper cups for coffee, toothbrush, comb, all other bath essentials. They also provide new towels and robes every day. Service - smooth check-in and checkout. For check-in, we arrived 30 mins early (2:30PM) and we were able to do the check-in via their machine. Just need to scan the passports and provide the guest details. Checkout is much quicker as you just need to drop the room keycards at the front desk if you don’t have any additional payments. Location - best thing about this hotel is it’s proximity to restaurants, shopping areas and Ueno station. It was helpful especially for my grandma who can’t walk long distances. We can go around shopping then go back to the hotel quickly to rest then go out at night again. We even took the Shinkansen from Ueno Station and it was convenient for us since it’s less than 10-min walk. It is so lively at night with locals and tourists! It was fun even it rained for 1 day, it was still nice to walk around Ueno. To add, we weren’t able to try their restaurant and other amenities such as their microwave at the lobby but we like that we have those options.
