Booked a one night basic room. This hotel is the lower cost price point relative to others in the location. Pretty no frills hotel. You are paying purely for the location/convenience. The standard room is tiny tiny, check to make sure you are okay with room size before booking, felt like a dorm room. Beds/pillow quality was lackluster. Rooms were clean, quiet, and staff was friendly and very helpful with a couple questions we had. Still gets 4* because of location location location, better prices for the area, and it doesn’t advertise to be something that it is not. We did not experience any negative surprises.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for the last part of our honeymoon, and we had a great experience! While the booking site we used had misleading photos which led to us accidentally booking a lower grade room than expected, the staff there were extremely helpful (especially Ms. Yoshida who went above and beyond to help sort this our for us) and despite the hotel not being at fault at all, they gave us a discount on a room upgrade to help us out. The hotel room we ended up with was very clean and modern, with a clever design tucking the sink and bath/shower behind the wall that the TV is mounted on facing the bed, with a separate toilet next to the entrance. The location was fantastic as Ginza is very central and it was very easy to get to any destinations in Tokyo we wanted to get to. Lots of high-end retail and food nearby as well which was a nice way to close out our honeymoon. Would definitely stay here again!
I enjoyed the location of Hotel Musse very much. It was very crowded outside, but only a few streets over, you could find quiet streets. Tons of great restaurants around. The breakfast was quite good. Good coffee, good orange juice--a nice mix of Japanese and other. I did feel, that for the price of the rooms (over 300.00 a night), that they shouldn't "nickel and dime" you. They charged 300 yen for the washer, 200 for the dryer, 200 for bath salts, 400 for special shampoo, 1500 if you lost your key, and so on and so on. It felt like they were basically working really hard to make five dollars or so back off the customer. It seemed silly to me. I'm sure they will say they are trying to keep costs down, but nice hotels, hotels in this price range, shouldn't need to do this. I would also mention that the rooms seemed very clean to me, but the carpet was stained and the box springs didn't look clean and should be covered.
The room itself was spacious enough for a solo traveller. The bathroom sink was located opposite the bed, separate from the toilet and shower/bath which was odd at first but it was actually pretty convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. There’s also coin laundry (2 machines) and you can get live updates from your TV, you can also see how busy the breakfast room is. Location is quite convenient, you got a bunch of restaurants and convenience stores nearby plus the main Ginza shopping streets just 5-10mins walk away. The closest stations were also about 10mins walk away. The breakfast here is one of the tastiest hotel breakfasts I have ever had. I also love the concept of the little dishes with your compartmentalised tray. However I do wish they changed up the variety, it was pretty much the same dishes available for the 9 days I was there (that went into different weeks). However if you don’t have breakfast and you prepaid, you can exchange your coupons for a free gift. Also one of the days there was a whole filming crew halfway through my breakfast, I don’t know if they put a notice up somewhere which I missed but if I knew, I absolutely would not have been there at those times. It was uncomfortable to say the least.
Great hotel! Kind staff! Very spacious, with lots of floor space to open two large suitcases if you’re booking the standard double room. The restaurant within the hotel is such a treat also, we were able to use our breakfast vouchers towards the total cost. Definitely a must book if you’re looking to stay in ginza :)
