Room size bigger than the usual business hotels. Has an onsen and free alcoholic drinks from 5pm onwards. It would be perfect if it is just a little bit nearer to ikebukuro station but can't really complain since it is just an 8min walk away.
Clean and comfy hotel, conveniently located a short walk from Ikebukuro station. The public baths were spacious and never too crowded. Service was friendly and efficient. Hotel breakfast offered an excellent selection of japanese and western dishes.
Highly recommend this hotel. The location is great with a train station and buses nearby that take you to all the main locations in Tokyo and to the airport really easily. The hotel itself was clean, the hot springs were a good experience and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff are very kind and accommodating to foreign guests. They assist with baggage transfers and are helpful with questions about the train station. The onsen is clean and relaxing. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Japan
The pros: Same as any other hotels of the Super Hotel chain, it has a welcome bar, onsen, amenities and pajamas. However, the breakfast is not free and needs to be purchased, 1800 yen. The cons: This hotel is the most expensive one out of 3 Super Hotels in Ikebukuro. And with a name like 'premier', one would expect a higher standard than the branches. I've previously stayed at the other two Super Hotels near Ikebukuro station. And I have to report that this one is no special than the other two. It even fell short on some aspects. First of all, the standard rooms are exactly the same size as the other hotels in this series of chain hotels. It even felt more cramp. The pictures on their website made the rooms look bigger than they actually are. But that's because they use extra wide angle lenses to take room photos. Yes, the beds are probably the largest among Super Hotels. But unlike other business hotels (APA, Toyoko), the furniture used by this hotel provide no under bed space to put suitcase. I found it extremely bothersome as I cannot even open my suitcase in the room. I can't even imagine how would two people stay in this room since I have a hard time getting comfortable myself. The second day of my stay, there was no hot water in my shower. I informed the front desk and they confirmed it was broken. So I had to pack up and move to another room. That's the first time in my decades of travel that the shower breaks down. And it's ironic that a hotel with onsen had no hot water. Location is not the closest to the train station. There are 13 floors and 2 elevators. Sometimes you need to wait a bit for the elevator. Other small annoyances such as the long clean up period when you're not allowed to stay in the room, same as any other hotels of the Super Hotel chain. There are only 1 set of laundry machines for women and 2 for men. Conclusion: Overall, I don't see how this hotel differs from any other Super Hotel to justify the price. If I come back to Ikebukuro, I probably won't choose Super Hotel Premier again. For the same price, Super Hotel Ikebukuro West has free breakfast. And for single travelers, Super Hotel Lohas right next door has the cheapest price, a garden, water station on every floor and better designed furniture.
