I’ve stayed at Toyoko Inn Tokyo Ikebukuro Kita-guchi No.2 a few times now, and it continues to be an easy, no-fuss choice. I appreciated the little extras like the toiletries and pajamas, and the free breakfast is a nice bonus in the morning. It’s also convenient to use the West (N) exit 20b from the station if you want the shortest walk.
Great location for Hotel. Have stayed in the area before and found it to be convenient. Easy walk to train station and shops near-by. Room and staff very good. As expected great job by cleaning staff. Value for money. Would stay again.
This is probably the last time I will stay in a Toyoko Inn. It’s always booked as a means to an end, but this room was particularly bad. I ended up booking this hotel out of desperation because I had to visit Tokyo last minute for an event and this was one of the more affordable options. The location is convenient as it’s a short walk away from Ikebukuro station. However, the area feels seedy as it is surrounded by love hotels and the vibe doesn’t feel great at night. The hotel is a bit old so the facilities weren’t in the best condition. To be honest, this wasn’t a huge issue for me. However, the rooms could’ve at least been cleaned properly. There was long hair in the bathroom and next to the mugs, which was absolutely disgusting. I usually bring sanitiser and wipes with me everywhere anyway, but really had to utilise them in this room as it did not feel clean to me at all. The layout was inconvenient and the soundproofing was very poor. I could hear loud people opposite me and the sound of someone else running water in the bathroom. I made sure to have the AC on to drown out the noise. The only saving grace was that the staff were generally polite, and they helped when I needed some assistance with the microwave. That’s the only reason I’m able to give two stars rather than one.
This hotel has the exact same feel as other Toyoko Inns. Older, but well-kept. The breakfast is ever-changing to keep things fresh and the UCC coffee is always good. Our room was by the elevator and bigger as a result. We didn't hear any elevator noise, which was surprising and nice! They have luggage lock ups and lockers but they tend to go early so plan accordingly if you need bigger space.
