We walked by this place while visiting Senso-ji and it immediately caught our attention. It’s a cute classy little restaurant that has amazing food! The bolognese was amazing and it came with an egg! The carbonera was the best though! You also couldn’t go wrong with the pizza. Everything was so delicious!
Hello from Taiwan! Had a wonderful dining experience at LaVASARA CAFE & GRILL in Asakusa. The food was beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy, with a charming mixed Japanese European-style interior that makes it a perfect place to relax after exploring the area. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was smooth throughout our visit. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, coffee, or dessert, this café is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended, and I would happily come back again!
LaVASARA 別邸 is a hidden gem in Asakusa that perfectly combines traditional Japanese charm with creative Italian cuisine. From the moment I walked through the distinctive circular entrance, it felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat away from the crowds surrounding Sensō-ji and Nakamise Street The restaurant is housed in a beautifully preserved traditional building, with exposed wooden beams, warm lighting, and a cozy atmosphere that creates a unique dining experience. The interior feels both elegant and welcoming, making it an ideal place to slow down and enjoy a meal We ordered the A5 Yonezawa Beef Bolognese with Japanese sansho pepper, and it was outstanding. The rich, flavourful meat sauce paired perfectly with the pasta, while the subtle aroma of sansho added a distinctly Japanese twist to a classic Italian dish. The lemonade and oolong tea were refreshing companions on a warm afternoon. The seasonal cold dish was also beautifully presented and showcased the restaurant’s attention to detail
The atmosphere is really beautiful and rustic. We had the 5,500¥ (+500¥ service fee) course menu and I had high expectations from the high ratings. First appetizer was good, then a decent filler soup and then...a piece of fried chicken with withered salad leaves!? Well at least the next food is going to be pasta! I wonder what kind of unique flavours we'll be served in this Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant. Maybe some seafood, umami or yuzu who knows? Well it's just bolognese...not bad...but bolognese. The main fish dish was unique, tasty and creative, finally! And then last and least, the dessert. Maybe some cake, panna cotta or tiramisu with a Japanese twist? It ended up being vanilla ice cream...
Dec 20, 2025 Besides the beautiful idyllic entrance and wooden decor inside the restaurant, and its relatively convenient location, I don’t see why this place should be that highly rated at 4.7 stars from almost 14k reviews. (That said, there are also lots of arbitrarily highly rated restaurants in Asakusa, which is even more suspicious than this place.) Food was okay, not bad. The appetizers of caprese tomato and small round bread in the beginning were small. Margarita pizza was small and the one in the photo already includes additionally charged onions and mushroom toppings. Sea urchin tomato pasta was large in volume and quite good. Servers first put an expired QR code for us and we couldn’t order from the phone and had to do it verbally. I saw a poster of VASARA kimono rental shops, with lots of rental stores all over Tokyo, and I wondered if they’re operated in the same corporate group. ~¥9,000 for two people for lunch including 2 wine glasses. One of us is a vegetarian, so if both of you eat meat/fish the total could go higher. We got a booking the day before, for 14:00 on a Saturday, so that was lucky and it didn’t seem very crowded at that hour. I’d say it’s overall alright, but not a must to come back.
