The Kanzashi Tokyo Asakusa
Tokyo
Recensioner
As a solo traveler the room I booked was good enough. I just wanted a bed and a shower and this is great. The bed is nice and the shower is hot. I am definitely not complaining and would totally come back. Yeah you might not get the luxuries of the big chains but I didn’t want that
The hotel is in an excellent location in Asakusa, with Lawson, 7-Eleven, and FamilyMart nearby, as well as many restaurants and shops within walking distance. It is very clean, the toiletries are excellent, and the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable. Breakfast at Eliose’s was outstanding, especially the fresh daily juice and delicious Eggs Benedict. The hotel is also close to many of Tokyo’s major attractions, making it a great base for sightseeing. Thank you for a wonderful stay—I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is in an excellent location in Asakusa, with Lawson, 7-Eleven, and FamilyMart nearby, as well as many restaurants and shops within walking distance. We had a very nice stay at the Kanzashi Asakusa hotel. The staff were lovely and very dedicated. The place is calm and the neighborhood too. You can find very nice places to eat and you are 5 minutes walk to one of the most beautiful and ancient temples of Japan. We recommend the place as as your HQ in Tokyo if you want peace away from othr busy neighborhoods.
I rarely write reviews like this, but this experience genuinely deserves one—hopefully for the management to take seriously. First, we booked a room for our elderly parents, who do not speak English or Japanese and are not familiar with digital technology. Naturally, we wanted to briefly accompany them to help set up basic things like Wi-Fi and the TV (which, by the way, comes with a remote entirely in Japanese and instructions that are not user-friendly for non-tech-savvy elderly guests) 👎 However, the receptionists firmly told us we were not allowed to go up because we were “not guests.” Fair enough—policies exist—but what followed was rather ironic. When we asked staff to assist our parents instead, the receptionist himself did not seem to understand how to operate the remote control. So, guests are not allowed to help, and staff are unable to help. That’s… an interesting service model 👎 Second, breakfast is not buffet-style. At this price point, one would reasonably expect at least a basic buffet option. The current offering feels underwhelming and mismatched with the cost 👎 Third, the room size. Yes, we understand that hotel rooms in Japan are generally compact—we’ve stayed in many. But this one takes “compact” to a new level. The layout is not just small; it feels impractical and potentially unsafe, especially for elderly guests or children trying to move around comfortably 👎 Finally, regarding the front desk staff: a bit more training in service excellence would go a long way. Hospitality is, at its core, about helping people—especially those who may need a little extra assistance 👎 To be fair, one of the few genuinely positive experiences we had was with a cleaning staff member (I believe she is Indian). She was kind, polite, and communicated far better than the front desk. Honestly, she demonstrated the level of hospitality one would expect from the entire hotel—and deserves recognition, if not a promotion 👍 I hope the management takes this feedback constructively. There is a clear gap between the price charged and the level of service and comfort provided—and that gap needs attention.
My wife and I stayed here as part of an Explore tour of Japan. Lovely hotel. Our Room wasn’t huge but was well thought out, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Good bathroom with a shower/bath and plenty of hot water. Our room had everything we needed including a kettle, fridge, tv and even pyjamas which you don’t get in European hotels. The hotel have a laundromat room with washing machines and dryers which can be paid for by credit card. Well situated for sightseeing. Subway station for travel into centre of town only 10-15 mins walk and many local attractions and vast range of places to eat and drink nearby. The Hotel staff are magnificent. Breakfast menu not brilliant but okay and again staff serving breakfast were very good. Overall a great hotel and I would stay here again.
