Description
Shibuya after dark is two cities. There is the one everyone photographs — the Crossing, the giant screens, the crowd — and there is the one two minutes behind it, where sixty tiny bars sit under paper lanterns in an alley that survived everything Tokyo built around it. I shoot both, in one session.
Most Shibuya photoshoots stop at the neon. This one keeps going, into Nonbei Yokocho.
You don't need to know how to pose. I tell you exactly what to do — where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands — so you never have to wonder whether you're getting it right.
Where we shoot
Shibuya Crossing — the busiest pedestrian intersection on earth, shot from street level with the crowd moving around you. Every session.
Centre-gai — Shibuya's neon shopping arcade at full volume: glowing signs, street fashion, city noise. Every session.
Nonbei Yokocho, Drunkard's Alley — a lane barely wide enough for two people, lined with paper lanterns and tiny post-war bars. Warm orange light instead of neon, and almost nobody photographing it. Every session.
Shibuya 109 and Dogenzaka — the curved facade and the neon-lined slope behind it, one of Shibuya's most cinematic backdrops. 90-minute and 2-hour sessions.
MIYASHITA PARK rooftop — an elevated park above the shopping complex, looking out across the Shibuya skyline. 2-hour session.
I don't lock the route in advance — light, crowds, weather and what you're wearing decide the order on the day.
Your session
Choose 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 2 hours, private, for up to 6 guests. Sixty minutes covers the essentials; ninety or more if you would rather not watch the clock. We meet at the Hachiko Statue, outside the Hachiko Exit of Shibuya Station (JR Yamanote Line), Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
Day or night
Both are available and they produce completely different sets of images. Daytime gives you colour, architecture and the full scale of the crossing. After 7pm the same streets turn into a neon landscape and the lanterns of Nonbei Yokocho come on. Evening is the one to book if you want the cinematic look.
No dress code
Bright colours, a suit, a kimono, streetwear, or whatever you packed — bring what makes you feel like yourself and I'll build the frames around it. Rain doesn't cancel this either: wet asphalt doubles every neon sign in Shibuya.
