Important Information
- ※Hard copies of all international driving permits (IDP) (no digital versions)
- ※Please make sure to have the correct and accepted version of the permit for Japan that falls under the 1949 Geneva Convention (valid only for a year)
- ※Drivers' licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium and Monaco must obtain a Japanese translation of their licenses from the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), not an international driver's license
- ※A driver's license issued in a country that is not covered by the 1949 Geneva Convention (such as Mexico, Kuwait, China, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, etc.) cannot be used to drive in Japan
- ※If customers don’t have an IDP that is valid in Japan, we can’t provide a refund
- ※For Indian customers, there are many types of IDP that may or may not be valid for legally driving in Japan, so we highly recommend contacting us directly before you book
- ※For UAE customers. Blue booklet-type IDP is not recognized by the Japanese police
