Create both a hanging scroll and an uchiwa fan with your own handwritten calligraphy. Your experience also includes a personalized hiragana name stamp, one tote bag in your choice of design, and one drink.
Your experience begins with a short, three-minute video introducing Japanese calligraphy. Your instructor will then explain the tools, show you how to hold the brush, and guide you through basic brush strokes in English.
Start by practicing lines and characters on traditional hanshi paper. With step-by-step support, beginners can enjoy discovering how the brush and ink move across the page.
Choose a meaningful kanji such as 'Love,' 'Dream,' or 'Harmony,' a favorite Japanese word, or your own name rendered in kanji. Learn the meanings of your chosen characters as you practice writing them.
Once you feel ready, create your final artwork on both a hanging scroll and an uchiwa fan. Both pieces are included in the price and are yours to take home the same day.
You will also receive a hanko stamp engraved with your name in hiragana, another Japanese writing system. Your handwritten artwork and personal name stamp make special keepsakes of your time in Japan.
Choose one original tote bag at no extra charge. Designs include cherry blossoms with waves and Mt. Fuji, cute ninja characters, and traditional Japanese family crests known as kamon.
