  • All drivers are required to get a hardcopy paper booklet of your 1949 Geneva Convention International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by the Official agency in your country (AAA, AA, CAA, ATCUAE, et al.)
  • For driving licenses issued from France, Switzerland, Taiwan, Germany, Monaco, and Belgium, you need a Japanese translation of your local license. You can obtain the physical copy from JAF office (Japan Automobile Federation)
  • The 1968 Vienna Convention, IDA, and IAA issued permits are not recognized by Japan.
