Description

Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Tomoe. I am the owner of meihana, a small upcycling brand that creates clothing from old kimonos, hand towels, flags, and other materials. I love Japanese characters and traditional designs, and in the past I've exhibited at events in Paris and fashion shows in Vancouver. And it was with the hope that visitors to Japan from overseas would also experience these things that I planned this workshop. I'm currently studying English but still can't speak it well, so I use a translation app to communicate with customers. Therefore, I designed items with straightforward steps that even those unfamiliar with sewing can complete in a short time. These cotton towels, known as tenugui, have been a familiar part of Japanese life for many years. They are dyed using natural dyes made from fermented persimmons. Combine your favorite patterned hand towel and string to create your own hand-sewn apron. If you are not familiar with sewing, I will assist you, so even beginners are welcome to participate. Wear your apron immediately on your sightseeing in Japan or take it home as a great souvenir for your family and friends. After the experience, I have prepared woven fabric wristbands and bags upcycled from Japanese rice sacks as souvenirs. The atelier is a room in an old house. I'll have coffee, Japanese tea, matcha milk, and other drinks ready, along with some light snacks. Please come with the same relaxed feeling as if you were visiting a friend's home in Japan. If you're looking for an experience a little different from the bustling crowds at famous tourist spots, you might like this plan. The closest station is Kanegafuchi Station on the Tobu Skytree Line, and the second closest station is Yahiro Station on the Keisei Line. Both stations are about a 10-minute train ride from Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree, but they are small stations where express trains do not stop. Please take a local train that stops at every station. If you don't get lost, it's about a 10-minute walk from Kanegafuchi Station and about a 15-minute walk from Yahiro Station. The area where I live is a residential neighborhood with old-fashioned scenery, and there are no prominent landmarks. If you get lost, please contact me by email. There are several houses with the same address. The house is located in the parking lot and has a sign. I am truly grateful that customers are willing to visit us despite our difficult-to-find location.
