Visit during weekdays for a quieter experience, avoiding the weekend crowd.

Sauna Tokyo, located in the vibrant district of Akasaka in Minato City, offers an array of uniquely designed sauna experiences. At this facility, visitors can choose from several sauna types, each catering to a different preferred style of relaxation and rejuvenation. One of the highlights is the '蒸喜乱舞' (Löyly Sauna), known for its large seating capacity and advanced audio-visual enhancements that enhance the sauna experience. This particular sauna is equipped with an auto Löyly feature to provide consistent steam and heat control, catering to enthusiasts who enjoy a traditional sauna atmosphere enhanced by modern technology.

Sauna Tokyo also features the '手酌蒸気' (Self Löyly Kero Sauna), which uses 'kelo' wood imported from Finland's Lapland, offering a fragrant and rustic sauna experience. This sauna encourages a self-service löyly, where guests can carefully adjust the steam intensity.

For those who prefer a less intense environment, the '瞑想' (Meditation Sauna) provides a lower temperature setting with higher humidity. This design encourages a more contemplative and solitary experience, promoting a deep sense of immersion and relaxation.

Another option is the '昭和遠赤' (Super Dry Sauna), which replicates the classic high-heat dry sauna experience with the charm of vintage Japanese bathhouses, complete with a TV for a touch of nostalgia.

Incorporating historical inspiration, the '戸棚蒸風呂' (Japanese Steam Sauna) presents a contemporary adaptation of a traditional Edo-period bathing style. It involves immersing the lower body in shallow warm water while enjoying steam for the upper body.

To complement these sauna experiences, the facility also offers various water baths, ranging from cold water baths featuring binchotan charcoal for enhanced mineral water quality to intermediate-temperature baths with soothing bubbles.

Visitors can conclude their sauna session with a period of quiet rest. The relaxation area is designed for calm and undisturbed recovery, equipped with a diverse drinks menu featuring detox water and other refreshments.

Sauna Tokyo is an incredible experience. Three different saunas (Steam, Dry, and Extra Dry) and around 5 different cooling baths makes for a great session. Make sure you go for the hourly session when the clock clicks over!!! This was one of the best and weirdest things I have been a part of. A sauna party with music and Japanese guys running all over the place. Elite.

Was really impressed with this sauna experience in Akasaka. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into and I was totally blown away by all of the amazing facilities at this location. They had a ton of cool clothing as well and I bought a bunch of stuff to take back home to Chicago.

Top bathhouse experience. Such a well-done operation. You pay by the hour, but the setup makes you forget time exists. Loved the separate sauna rooms and the three cold pools. My nervous system is still thanking me.

Ive been to saunas/ steam rooms etc all over the world ,but found this very confusing as im aware of the cultural differences but I felt awkward having to.place a big sticker on me for having tattoo's!! And pay an extra 500yen. It wasn't a relaxing experience as too afraid of breaking rules ( as others have mentioned too). I left after 45 mins when my small towel was taken cos I'd left it in a place I shouldn't have unknowingly whilst in a hot tub. Total cost was 2700 yen or $27 A$. Cheaper if I'd taken my Tattoo's off ! A costly and sadly unfriendly experience.
