Reviews
Great hotel for families. Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully equipped. Quiet despite proximity to station. Kitchenette a great addition, allowing for simple meals and food reheating. Well located for navigating the city. Great coffee shop next door (Coffee Murasaki). Wonderful staff. Thank you for everything 😊
This is our 4th Mimaru property that we've stayed at. Large spacious rooms, in room kitchennete with supplied dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils, dining table, and extra counter spaces make this chain an amazing option for traveling families. Although the rooms may be a little pricier than other options in the area the space more than makes up for the added cost. Japan hotels are notorious to western travelers for being small and cramped but not here. A standard family apartment is larger than you're typical American hotel room and some of the larger accomodations are easily the same if not larger than some suites I stayed in. Specifically for this property, the staff is amazing and always accommodating and willing to help however they can. If you have younger kids I highly recommend a train view room as this was something our kids absolutely loved to watch and shout out each time a train was spotted. There are two great little coffee shops in the vacinity (one next door) and a couple of Lawson's nearby all within a couple minutes walk. There is also a grocery store about 10 minutes away so making use of the kitchennete is easy to do which is always a nice option to eating out every night. Unfortunately there are no sento/onsen located nearby with the closest being about a 10-15 min walk away which is a slight negative but more than outweighed by the other perks of the location. A bit of advice if using Google maps to navigate to the area though, Google directs you to the 'Park Exit' of Ueno station. Ignore this and head for the 'Iriya Exit'. From there you're just a short 5 min walk from the hotel.
Stayed here with a family of 4 including 2 young children. The family apartment was great with a kitchenette and dining table. Having the refrigerator and microwave was very nice so we didn't have to eat out every day. Bunk beds for the kids were a hit. We stayed in a train view room, it had a window with a large sill that the kids could sit on and watch the trains come and go - it was their favorite spot. Location in the Ueno neighborhood was great, it's a quieter area than Ginza, but only a short train ride away if you want to go shopping. There is a FamilyMart and 7-11 within easy walking distance. A supermarket about a 10-15 min walk away and about 10-15 mins to the Ameyayokocho shopping street. Staff speak English well so we had no problem with check-in or check out. They also let you store your luggage for free on the day of checkout, which was nice since checkout was at 11 and our flight was not until 6:15. We spent a few hours at the park before heading to the airport. We also stayed at the Mimaru locations in Osaka and Kyoto and all were great. Would definitely stay here again, highly recommend!
Room layout excellent for a family. Toddler loved the bunk beds! Fantastic location near the train, convenience store, park and zoo, plus great coffee shop next door. Lots of wonderful options for dinners within 10mins walk. Helpful and friendly staff, wonderful cleaning service, useful to have laundry there too. A free pick up from airport included in booking. Couldnt really ask for more and would recommend to other families. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Just got home from our stay at Mimaru Uneo North. It was perfect! The location is an easy walk to Uneo station, Uneo park and not too far from the Keisei skyliner airport train too. If you don’t mind the walk, it’s not too far to enjoy a walk to the temple, kitchen street or even the sky tree! The staff truly made our stay. Nothing was a problem. Spoke wonderful English! They interacted positively and enthusiastically with our daughter which we really appreciate. Always willing to help or point us in the right direction. The rooms were clean and spacious, I was worried hearing rooms are small in Japan, but this room was perfect. Fresh towels daily without asking is also a quality touch. We would 100% stay here again or at the other apartments across Japan and also recommend to friends and family. Thanks for making our first visit to Japan special!
