We loved our little shoebox in Tokyo! It was tiny, but very clean and well thought out. Only things missing were somewhere around the sink to hang hand-towels and an extractor fan in the bathroom. Felt strange not to have one in such a small, windowless space and would have helped with drying the towels. Loved the communal areas, the library was full of great books and pamphlets on Tokyo. Gorgeous space to lounge in. We enjoyed live Jazz one Friday night, which was absolutely beautiful. Laundry room very clean and well laid out, with iron as well as 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Really liked this area and right next door to lounge! Location also great, walking distance to Ueno station and many museums and attractions. Easy to get around and very lively area. Gorgeous reception staff. Overall lovely vibe. We were happy to stay here for 5 nights and could have stayed more!
We had the most wonderful time at the Nohga Hotel. Having lived in Tokyo, I believe this is the most underrated hotel in the city. And it is our new go-to in Tokyo. We love the location, walking distance from the Ueno train station and the vibrant Ameyoko market, feeling like a calm oasis just a block away. The hotel is extremely clean and nice. I enjoyed using the gym, and we did laundry. The breakfast each day is exquisite. We especially enjoyed speaking with Saki, who taught my daughter about her Pokemon cards. I chose this photo to represent the hotel because it captures the family and team atmosphere of this small luxury boutique hotel. Larger luxury hotels, where we might’ve been inclined to stay, cannot compete with an experience like this.
My wife and I stayed here for the first three nights of our anniversary trip to Japan. This was our most favorite hotel of our trip. The room was modern and cozy with a great view of the streets of Ueno. It was a full amenity, modern, western style king room. We were comfortable the whole time. The staff did their absolute best in serving us, going above and beyond the legendary Japanese hospitality one comes to expect. Every request, question and interaction was fulfilled with a smile. The location is great, this hotel is in a nice quiet pocket of Ueno, not too far from Ueno station. There are many amazing places to eat in the neighborhood, well within walking distance. But why walk? The Nohga Hotel breakfast buffet was amazing. Many high quality and fresh local ingredients were served. We felt spoiled, and couldn't have been happier. We loved our stay at the Nohga Hotel Ueno, and when we come back, we're staying here again, we promise. You should do the same if you find yourself looking for a place to stay in the Ueno area.
Great location close to Ueno station. Kappabashi area about a 15 min walk. Hotel seems to be a popular choice with non-Japanese guests. English speaking staff was very helpful. Rooms were large and cleaned daily, which we appreciated with 3 adults per room (1 king and 1 extra bed). Enjoyed the rain shower room/tub combo for relaxing after a long day of sight seeing. Breakfast was great! First time ever having a “breakfast salad”. At first I thought this was ‘lost in translation’, but found it was a nice healthy way to start the day (accompanied by a traditional Japanese fish and rice). Would stay here again—Thank you!
I LOVE THIS HOTEL. I love everything about this hotel. The room, services, location, and access. The front desk were all English speakers, very helpful, and friendly. The lobby was very fragrant, giving the vibe of a chic modern boutique hotel. Amenities were provided in front of the front desk, including cleansing oils, creams, lotions, tooth brushes etc. They also have a wash and fold services started from ¥4000. They also can arrange luggage delivery service using Yamato Kuroneko. They have laundry room including a topload washer, a dryer, an ironing table and an iron, water dispenser, coin exhanger, a seating area, a coin welcome drink station where they have options of sake, wine and juices. They also have an outdoor balcony which they use for smoking area. This balcony also has its separated stairs for entrance and exit to the hotel. The room were chic and modern. Our room has a double/queen bed, a separated toilet and shower, a modern hanger, a drawer, a small area for a sink, fridge, a small mud area behind the door. They provided you with night gowns. TV was oddly placed though, but considering the tight space, to fit a 40ish inch TV is actually nice. The room was quiet. This hotel is located near Ueno station which is great. You can access it directly from the underground and lead you straight up the main streets using elevator if you travel with suitcases. Stairs were available too. It is situated only 2 blocks away from Ameyoko market. There was a 711 just across the streets. There are also other conbini in the surrounding a few blocks away. Only 2 blocks away from halal ramen. All in all, i would love to stay at this hotel again and recommend it to adult travellers.
