I am disappointed that the uni quality was not the best…There was only one dish where the uni was served at premium quality and the majority was at a lower quality. If I had known, I would have gone somewhere else

Uniholic – A Must-Visit for Uni Lovers Located in Roppongi, Tokyo, Uniholic is a specialty restaurant dedicated to sea urchin (uni) dishes — a place uni fans definitely shouldn’t miss. The vibe is a modern bar-style setting where you can sit back, chat, and enjoy music. Their drink selection is also great, especially for those who enjoy alcohol. Must-try: • The Ultimate Uni Pasta – Rich, savory, and packed with uni flavor. The slightly salty profile makes it surprisingly addictive and memorable. • Fried Shrimp – Perfectly fried, crispy, and great as a snack to go with drinks. Prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality and the unique uni-focused concept, it’s a spot I really enjoyed overall. Great for a relaxed night out with good food and drinks.

Lots of great uni options to choose from. The extra rich pasta is especially worth getting as an a la carte item even if you get the course meal already.

Visited in October 2025. Japan 🇯🇵 Tokyo. I first discovered this restaurant on Klook, where they offered several set menu options. The name immediately caught my attention — as a self-proclaimed “uniholic,” I was intrigued by the idea of a restaurant dedicated entirely to sea urchin. The concept sounded exciting, and my expectations were high, though the average online rating made me a little cautious. FOOD: The restaurant specializes in sea urchin (uni), offering a wide variety of dishes featuring it, as well as uni sashimi by weight (50 grams per serving). We were curious to try different types and combinations, so we ordered the uni trio, which included three kinds: two from Japan and one from Chile. We’re quite familiar with uni, and unfortunately, the quality here was disappointing. The Chilean uni, in particular, had an unpleasant flavor, while the Hokkaido uni was somewhat better but still dominated by a strong oceanic taste rather than the signature sweetness good uni should have. The smoked uni was interesting to try once, but the smoky flavor completely overpowered the delicate taste of the urchin. The crab gratin was a total letdown — a slippery, greasy dish with almost no crab flavor, and surprisingly filled with pasta and salmon instead. The octopus tempura was chewy and not enjoyable, though technically edible. The only dishes we genuinely liked were the buttered uni toasts — crispy, rich, and flavorful, even if the uni flavor itself was faint — and the pumpkin soup, which was smooth and comforting. Everything else felt mediocre at best. SERVICE: Service was average. When we mentioned our disappointment with the crab dish, there was no reaction or attempt to address it. Overall, the staff didn’t engage much and seemed rather indifferent. VERDICT: The reviews were right — the restaurant is mediocre. It seems to attract attention through its clever name and Klook marketing rather than genuine quality. The idea of a “sea urchin restaurant” is fun and unique, but the execution falls short. A good concept wasted on poor ingredients. If you go, keep your expectations low.
