Under the guidance of a local host, you’ll learn the meaning, rituals, and mindset behind this practice, and experience being under a sacred waterfall within a temple's serene grounds. This is an authentic cultural experience you won’t find anywhere else. Perfect for beginners, this activity includes full support and explanation. The temple is nestled in nature, easily accessible from Tokyo, offering a peaceful retreat into the heart of Japanese tradition. Experience Flow Meet at the temple Gather at the designated temple and check in with the guide. Introduction & safety prayer Learn about the meaning and rituals of Takigyo, followed by a brief safety ceremony inside the temple. Move to the waterfall & practice Walk to the waterfall and experience Takigyo under the guidance of the host. Return to the temple & end of tour Change clothes and the experience concludes at the temple.

  • ※The experience will be canceled in case of heavy rain, severe weather, or if the organizer deems it unsafe to proceed. Please bring a T-shirt or change of underwear to wear under the traditional outfit (fundoshi or training wear). Participants must be in good health and able to walk on uneven terrain. The waterfall experience takes place outdoors, even in light rain—please dress accordingly. The water is cold year-round. Please be prepared mentally and physically. There are no showers available at the temple. A towel will be provided for drying. Long hair should be tied back, and minimal makeup is recommended.
