Reviews
location is about 10 minutes away from ikebukuro station so not too far. the area around the hotel is fairly busy with lots of shops and restaurants. rooms are fairly small and when i opened my suitcase it completely blocked the doorway. my room was on the eighth floor, and was consistently around 26-30 degrees celsius - no aircon in the rooms and the window only opens a millimeter. my room was on the side of a very busy road and even with my earplugs in i could still hear the traffic outside. all in all if your hotel room is only going to be the place you sleep it’s perfect for the price and location.
I stayed at Hotel Route Inn Ikebukuro for seven nights during my first trip to Japan, and I am extremely happy with my choice. Location: A Hidden Gem Choosing Ikebukuro was the best decision. It has a great vibe—very similar to Shibuya with plenty of shops and restaurants—but it feels a bit more relaxed and quiet. It is very central, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in Tokyo via the train lines nearby. Exceptional Service The staff here are truly wonderful. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. A huge highlight was my departure: the reception staff went above and beyond by calling my next hotel and arranging the luggage forwarding service for me. Not having to drag my heavy suitcase across the city was a huge relief! Rooms & Amenities • Cleanliness: The room was spotless and very well-maintained. • Size & Height Note: Like most hotels in Tokyo, the rooms are small but functional. As a solo traveler, it was manageable. However, a quick note for tall travelers: I am 191 cm (approx. 6'3"), and my head was touching the ceiling in the shower. If you are any taller, it might be a bit of a squeeze, but for me, it was just about doable! • Breakfast: The breakfast isn't "extravagant," but it is definitely sufficient to start your day. Since there is so much amazing food to discover in Tokyo anyway, it was exactly what I needed. Verdict: A clean, central, and friendly hotel. The hospitality here made my first Japan trip so much easier. I would definitely stay here again!
