I appreciate the efficiency, etiquette and richness in the ramen at this restaurant. It feels like taking a math test, but in a good way. Also, the matcha almond pudding with green tea sauce is really good.

I went to Ichiran Ikebukuro at 2PM. Its after lunch time, surprisingly there is mo long queuing. Its only 1 person in front of me in the outside of restaurant and there is only 3 guests inside the resto. Its self order, they give all the photo and provide some language. You can pay with cash, card, etc. After paid the food, the staff will give you Order Sheet. They also give their recommendation. I ordered some of their recommendation (Seasoning Stock, Richness, Garlic, Green Onion, Sliced Pork, and Noodle Texture). I choose spicy but for Indonesian its not spicy, I recommend you to get up to level 5 spicy. The staff will take your order sheet and inform you the place number. They provide hanger, tissue, water refill, even if you didn’t want to talk when you have extra order they provide request tag. Ramen is really delicious, the broth is really rich but its not bored. All the recommendation is perfect. I finished all the broth. The staff is friendly and their toilet is really proper. The space is not huge, its better you only eat without having conversation, its will be helpful for people who waiting outside 😄. Overall, I will recommend Ichiran Ramen to all my friend if they want visit Japan.

I was so excited to try this ramen- it has been all over my feed online! I waited for about 45 minutes in line, which was expected and not bad at all. I got the main meal with the extra pork, mushrooms, nori and eggs. My soup came and it was so underwhelming, the flavour of the broth was average and nothing special, the noodles were the best part, but the broth was cold, which when I added my cold eggs, side pork and mushrooms the temperature of the broth dropped even more. I am not sure if they do this to rush people through so you can eat your soup faster, but it was disappointing. I would recommend checking out a different chain or a local shop over this.

One of the best and most authentic ramen spots you can visit while in Japan. While we didn’t know how to order, the staff helped us with all the questions we’ve had and we ordered via a digital screen. The ramen itself was very delicious, rich and flavorful. Their toppings were also class and I recommend ordering extra chasu if you like it more meaty. We had a great time and would love to come back.

Getting our ramen fix and probably the best ramen chain store in Japan is Ichiran. Love how you can customise nearly everything in your ramen from Dashi, garlic, chashu, etc. this particular store In Ikebukuro was pretty big and it had a screen at the front to show you the occupancy and when it was being cleared and reset for the next customers. The Ramen and broth was tonkatsu yummy. Pretty happy with the experience and taste of the ramen. That’s why there is always a line and worth the wait.
