The best sushi and experience we had in our whole Japan trip. The owner (husband and wife) are extremely kind, attentive and you can tell they love what they do. The quality of the fish was incredible and we loved every bite. Pricier than most but you definitely get what you pay for. We’ll be back for sure whenever we come back to Tokyo!

Extremely Loud Atmosphere Followed by an Unexpectedly Rude Dismissal We visited Fukuzushi about a year ago and had a wonderful experience, which is why we chose to return on this Tokyo trip. We booked the 8:00pm counter omakase (around $310 USD per person) and were genuinely looking forward to it. After waiting about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, we found the atmosphere at the counter unexpectedly loud. A group of local guests next to us were speaking and laughing at a very high volume throughout the meal. It was difficult to hear the chef’s explanations, and the noise made it hard to focus on the food. At first, we wondered if this was simply a cultural difference, but we noticed other diners also reacting to the volume. In addition, the pacing felt unusually slow — after about an hour, only three courses had been served (out of roughly 15). We politely asked the hostess whether the progression was slightly delayed. She responded kindly and went to speak with the chef. Shortly after, the situation escalated in a way we did not expect. Although we do not understand Japanese, the chef appeared visibly upset and, after speaking loudly, gestured toward us and said in English, “OK, goodbye,” before stepping away. The hostess later apologized and mentioned there had been a miscommunication. At that point, feeling confused and uncomfortable — especially amid the ongoing loud environment — we chose to leave. We understand that misunderstandings can happen, particularly across languages. However, the combination of the disruptive atmosphere and the abrupt dismissal left us quite disappointed, especially given the price and our previously positive experience. We hope future guests will have a more peaceful and welcoming evening.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! The sushi was truly the best we’ve ever had—fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service was just as impressive. We loved the intimate atmosphere. You can really feel the care and passion from the husband-and-wife team who run the restaurant. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. We will definitely be back. A true gem! 🍣

I normally don’t write reviews. But I couldn’t help myself as the food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional! 💯 The place is easy to spot as it’s really close from the Roppongi station. The 2 owners were nice and fun to talk to. They spoke fluent English and other customers looked like they were enjoying themselves as well. And lastly, the sushi was just perfect. As I’ve never had any sushi as good as this in my entire life. My favorite was the tuna. If you are looking for an authentic sushi dining, this is the perfect place for that. I’ll definitely be back again! ✨

Some of the best quality sushi I’ve had, paired with the kind of hospitality you rarely find in the city. It’s a husband-and-wife team, and they create a really friendly, welcoming atmosphere that makes the whole omakase experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. If you feel intimidated by omakase, don’t let that discourage you from coming here. The sushi is crafted through generations in the family, curate a variety of omakase experience, and they even spoke English! (Had some fun small talks) Right in the middle of Roppongi, but it feels like a cozy escape from the usual corporate or flashy spots. If you’re looking for top-tier sushi with a personal touch, this is the place. Have been & will be back again. Pro tip: make reservations!
