Felt very private with only tive tables being served for lunch service. Food was excellent and creative, often with a couple different sauces with each course. The views were amazing though sometimes got too bright and sunny, but staff quickly lowered the shades. If you're staying via Amex FHR two lunch sets is about covered by the $150 property credit.
It was such a lovely dinner experience that my husband and I are already planning a yearly visit to Bellustar. Very nice atmosphere, the staff are very attentive, and food was really good. Super worth it!
BellaStar Restaurant delivered an exceptional fine dining experience that truly showcased the elegance and precision of Japanese-inspired cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt refined yet welcoming, creating the perfect setting to enjoy a thoughtfully curated multi-course meal. The dinner began with a delicate assortment of small appetizers that immediately set the tone for the evening. Each bite was beautifully presented and balanced in flavor. The shrimp tartar with Japanese red basil mousse and caviar was especially memorable—fresh, light, and incredibly refined. The marinated yellowtail paired with yogurt purée and pickled Japanese white radish offered a refreshing contrast that highlighted the quality of the ingredients. One of the standout courses was the sautéed soft roe with grilled maitake mushrooms and truffle. The richness of the browned butter combined with the earthy mushrooms created a deeply satisfying dish. The grilled monkfish with prosciutto and anchovy cream sauce was another highlight, delivering a perfect balance between savory and delicate flavors. The main course, grilled Japanese Wagyu beef over charcoal, was simply outstanding. The beef was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, complemented by potato gratin, horseradish sour cream, and a rich beef broth sauce. Dessert continued the impressive journey with a smooth milk jelly with lavender sorbet followed by a decadent fondant chocolate cake with white bean sorbet. A special mention goes to our server, Eri Yoshinawa, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable throughout the entire experience. She explained the dishes beautifully and made us feel genuinely welcomed. BellaStar is truly a remarkable fine dining destination and an experience I would highly recommend.
Food was delicious. Had the ¥19,000 dinner menu. With views like that in heart of shinjuku, it was such a steal. Dishes was very well excecuted and easily of 1* michelin level in any other city besides Tokyo. If i were to nitpick, feedback would be - starting 3 snacks was weak in comparism to the menu, the smoked salmon with parmesan chip and the other (cheese tart?) Had too similiar flavor profile and a little one dimensional. - seared grouper dish, flavors was nice but a little too safe. The skin of the grouper was also very tough and leathery. If crispy skin is wanted, grouper may not be the right fish.. - duck was one of the highlights of the meal, although personal preference would prefer medium doneness for more juiciness and nicer chew. (It was rare here, resulting it in a slightly tougher chew) Major positives / highlights - the clam tartare was delicious, loved the sweetness and texture of the clams. - crab tart also delicious but maybe a different presentation will help it stand out in memory vs the clam tartare, both had a espuma/foam on top. - duck was super fragrant, and the skin done absolutely perfect. I knew i wanted to have the duck vs the beef as duck required much more care and skill to excecute, which it was done expertly here -the cold blue cheese souffle was a great modern interpretation of the french cheese course. Thoroughly enjoyed the rich yet light texture, masterfully done. - pear dessert was also a highlight. Although truth be told it might seem boring when you read the menu, yet the simple straightforward flavors meet expert execution, it elevates to becomes a star. Overall will definitely revisit.
