One of the most expensive steak sandwiches I’ve had in my life. USD 70! I don’t regret it but I might not revisit due to the price point. Portion is generous as you can see in the photos. We shared it amongst two people and we didn’t have to grab dinner afterwards. Beef was flavourful and cooked beautifully. Seasoning is on point. The bread can be a little bit more toasted but it’s good enough. This trip was spontaneous so we didn’t make a reservation. But I was told that you only have to try their steak sandwich really, and it’s available for takeaway. The wait was around 10 minutes. Service was superb.
The steak melts in your mouth and the sandwiches out of this world, 10/10!!! We left so high on dopamine that we decided to walk 40 minutes back the hotel and share impressions of the experience. The staff is so kind and attentive, Oshima chef is so smiley and chatty. Legend!
Went there for dinner and would definitely recommend making a reservation if you can, it’s a small place and fills up quickly. The menu is quite compact, which actually makes it easier to choose. One thing to note for the appetizers: make sure to specify the quantity. I ordered “one” thinking it meant one portion, but my plate came out with literally one asparagus. The wagyu beef is obviously the star of the show. We went for the filet and it was honestly one of the best pieces of meat I’ve ever had. So tender, perfectly cooked, and beautifully seasoned! Also, the staff are incredibly sweet. After we paid, we were treated to a homemade cheesecake, and the lady even walked us to the exit. Such a warm and thoughtful touch.
A truly special dining experience at Shima. A traditional restaurant with more than 35 years of history, where you can enjoy some of the finest meat cuts paired with authentic Japanese appetizers that set the tone from the very beginning. From the moment you arrive, the experience feels thoughtful and personal. The arrival and access to the restaurant already hint at something special—discreet, calm, and very much in line with its long-standing tradition. The service is outstanding: attentive, warm, and deeply respectful, without ever feeling formal or distant. Every detail is handled with care, making you feel genuinely welcomed. And the farewell… just as memorable as the meal itself. A sincere, gracious goodbye that leaves you with the feeling of having been truly looked after, not just served. A place with soul, tradition, and excellence. Highly recommended.
Visited August 2025. Booked a reservation months in advance for this beauty. By far my most favorite meal in Tokyo, Japan!! The Japanese Wagyu Beef was the best, most highest quality beef I've ever tasted in my entire life thus far. Ordered the Sirloin Steak, & the beef was so tender & buttery, it melted in your mouth. It appeared to be cooked Medium, & the beef is so good, you don't need any sauce or condiments to eat it with. The Wagyu Beef Sandwiches as takeout are worth the extra money, as it's a nice breakfast for the next morning! Best tasting most unique sandwich ever. Wonderfully prepared by the great Chef Oshima Manabu, & hats off to his entire staff, & his wife who served us. They treated us with so much interest & respect, even gifted us with a complimentary cheesecake for dessert, took our pictures, & walked us out the elevator outside! This is the best level of Japanese Hospitality & Service. This meal will probably be your most expensive in Tokyo; as for 2 people at the time of this writing, it costed around ¥58,000, about close to $400 USD. It's worth splurging on this meal, as it's more than just a meal but an experience of a lifetime.
