Teppanyaki Icho 鉄板焼 銀杏. Great view of the harbour located at level 30 of Grand Nikko hotel, this restaurant is close to the Unicorn Gundam where we are visiting. Four different set lunch options from ¥10,000 to ¥22,000. Went for the cheapest option at ¥10,000, with add-on fried rice at ¥1,000. Two chefs prepared the food only for only four of us. The premium beef was flavourful, and cooked to medium rare as we requested. Three servers were by our side to serve our food and drinks. For dessert & coffee/tea, we moved to another room. For dessert, we had (1) Panna Cotta, smooth white dome on the left, topped with diced peach and a chocolate shard; (2) Raspberry Sorbet.
We really wanted to like this restaurant and booked it for our final meal in Japan. The meal, view, and Teppanyaki chef were incredible. It was the end of the meal that was severely lacking. Once we had both finished our meal, we were waiting for our dessert. And waited. And waited. It was as if we had been completely forgotten about. No one came to check if we needed more drinks or were ready for our dessert or anything. We stayed as long as we could and got up to leave. After that, someone ran up to us asking about dessert, but we had to go and they had plenty of time to get it to us before we had gotten up. It was incredibly disappointing end to our trip especially when we were paying over $300 for two meals. The service and timings should be impeccable.
We ordered the set with lobster, steak, and abalone - everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. Also a stunning view of Tokyo, with the Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and Rainbow Bridge all in sight. A wonderful dining experience overall. Quite expensive though but definitely worth visiting again!
Highly recommend Teppanyaki Icho. We were visiting Tokyo and wanted to try Teppanyaki fine dining. After looking up reviews, I decided to book Icho. Did not disappoint. It was remarkable from superior food quality to attentive service to classy atmosphere. Great view from 30th floor. Hands down one of the best Teppanyaki fine dine experience. Extensive wine list. We ordered sake for food pairing. Perfect with the marbly beef. Foie gras was the best I have ever had. No goosey taste just a rich flavor that leaves an unforgettable aftertaste. So good we ordered extra. Butter sauce set aside separately for dipping with lobster and scallop. Not many restaurants do that. All the attention to details lead up to an exceptional culinary experience. Although not the most convenient location, we had to taxi back and forth from Ginza area but worth the while. Will definitely be back when we visit Tokyo again.
