[UO TSUKA: An Authentic Standing Bar Experience] We originally intended to visit UO KUSA, but there were no vacancies available. The staff kindly directed us to their sister stall, UO TSUKA. It is a very small venue that offers a deeply authentic and lively local experience. [The Setup and Space] This is a traditional standing bar where you must secure a standing spot. Space is extremely tight. You absolutely need to place your bag on the shelf directly in front of you, otherwise you will constantly bump into the guest standing right beside you. The atmosphere is boisterous, with everyone chatting loudly. Because it is so crowded and noisy, it is not the kind of establishment where you can comfortably linger or enjoy your time for a long duration. [The Food and Drink] We ordered the oysters, the king crab and a glass of Akabu sake. The oysters were wonderfully fresh, and the Akabu sake was very good. However, the king crab was only all right and did not particularly stand out. Please refer to my photos for a visual look at the portions.
The food is good, the shop owner is friendly and genuine, the street is busy but eating there feels reel (there were only japanese customers alongside us the whole time). Go for the kingcrab (even though a bit expensive) and the salmon roe don (banger). Oysters are fresh. I recommend this sake specifically to pair the food with (dry). Thank you very much and congrats!
The shop owner is friendly and genuine. There's an authentic feel about the place, visible in the hand written signs. And the quality of food was excellent too!
First time trying shirako & became a fan ^^ Oysters from Hokkaido were really fresh too. Sake recommendations were on point, friendly service, waited 15 minutes during Monday lunchtime which was okay.
