A high end, relatively accessible (in terms of formality) kaiseki specialising in grilled eel. The famous eel was presented live to us before cooking which was a good instagram moment, but maybe triggering (as it was for a friend) if you are not good with snake like living beings. :) The set menu is extensive and includes great ingredients from different regions, and aside from the eel the Matsusaka beef really stood out. We dined in the private room and the environment was maybe a bit stiff for a friends group. It is however perfect for business meals and hosting foreign guests. Service was fine, a bit stiff but par for the course for such kaiseki places. Overall a 9/10 place for kaiseki if that’s your thing.
This is absolutely worth the visit if you are visiting Tokyo! As a foreigner who has been living in Japan for about a year, this restaurant has become my most memorable meal in Tokyo. The food quality is extremely fresh and so delicious. They show you where all of your meat and fish are from and explain each dish in English thoroughly. The server also spoke great english and the environment was very welcoming. You have the joy of watching the chefs prepare the dishes right in front of you. Overall, this will easily be the best meal you have in Tokyo and a must for anyone visiting.
