Keep it simple: insane burgers and perfectly crispy fries. Absolutely worth a visit! 100% recommend, just come hungry because you’ll want to devour everything.

It's alright. Nothing special. Service was slow and food tasted room temperature. I don't like Shake Shack in the states, but I was intrigued by this particular location. It is very spacious and cool, but burger is meh.

Oh my, I wanted real beef, a hearty meat to bite my teeth into in a burger, not the Japanese style burger (aka Mos Burger, Freshness Burger, ahem you might know what I mean, soft meat with a panko bread making the meat melt in your mouth (yummy on a different day)) so I went to Shake Shack and got me a double (hahaha), regular fries, and a large diet coke. My wife got the single and a Black Sesame shake (only in Japan 🤔 maybe). I cheated and ordered my wife a regular fries too. lucky me (half was mine before I even ordered it. LoL). Anyway, if you are in Ginza, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, Tokyo Station, Shimbashi or Hibiya, you are no more than a hop skip and away from real meat (USA beef I guess). Eating in recommendation: Get your seat FIRST. How to: Put a handkerchief or something trivial on a table to hold your seat indoors or outdoors (or have a friend hold the seat while you order). Then Order on the machines inside (click the English USA flag), pickup a electronic pager and scan the QR code then make your order (customizing is available). Warning: only digital payment or credit cards are available (I could not find the cash payment option). When your pager rings go to the pickup countertop, they will confirm your order, then grab your condiments. If you need a fork, ask the pickup counter staff and you'll get a small wooden pitchfork. 😊

Visited at 3:50 PM on April 25, 2026 When I watch YouTube videos of the streets of Manhattan, New York, one thing shows up surprisingly often: Shake Shack burgers. I thought, “Oh, I can actually eat that in Tokyo,” so I looked it up—and sure enough, there’s one in Marunouchi. At that point, there was no stopping me. So, I headed there immediately. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from Tokyo Station. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was: “Wow, this place is big.” There are plenty of seats, so you don’t really have to worry about not finding a place to sit. In fact, there were several open counter seats for solo customers, so I grabbed one right away. The tables are spacious too—perfect for opening up a MacBook and pretending to be a New Yorker for a while. I ordered a burger and coffee set for 1,573 yen. It’s definitely “big city pricing,” but I tried to think of it as the price of admission to the Manhattan brand. After about 10 minutes with a buzzer in hand, my order was ready. And then… my first impression: “…It’s small.” I had a strong image of American portions being big, so this brought me back to reality a bit. I almost convinced myself, “Maybe this is the Marunouchi size, not the Manhattan size,” but still—it felt a bit compact. The coffee was a hot tall. When I opened the lid, there was a light layer of foam on top. One sip told me right away—it’s that typical machine-brewed drip coffee. Not bad, but it lacks that “carefully brewed” feeling. If I had to describe it: efficient, but not artisanal. Now, the main event—the burger. It looked great. Fresh tomato, veggies, nicely put together—very promising. But after one bite… Hmm. The flavor is… quiet. The ingredients are clearly good. The meat has a solid texture, and you can tell there’s a focus on quality, like being hormone-free. But overall, it’s a bit too subtle. You could call it a “gentle flavor,” but on the flip side, it lacks punch. Honestly, something like a Big Mac from McDonald’s gives a stronger “I’m eating a burger!” satisfaction. This one feels more like a burger where you “appreciate the ingredients.” Personally, I wanted a bit more attitude in the flavor. Looking around, about 90% of the customers seemed to be from overseas. I heard English and Chinese everywhere—it almost made me forget I was in Marunouchi. I even thought about striking up a conversation in English, but this time I focused on my conversation with the burger instead. The seating is really comfortable overall. Whether at the counter or a table, it’s a great place to relax, get some work done, or just watch YouTube on your phone. It feels more like a café—similar to Starbucks or Tully’s—rather than a typical fast food spot. So overall— “It’s worth trying once, but whether you’ll come back depends on the person.” I’d give it ⭐️⭐️. The reason is simple: my expectations had already traveled all the way to New York. If I were rating based on the gap between expectation and reality, it would be “2 stars plus minus 3 stars for the dream.” That said, as an experience—“tasting a Manhattan favorite in Tokyo”—it’s definitely interesting. If you’re curious, I recommend trying it once and seeing for yourself what Shake Shack is really like.

Shake Shack is known for its delicious food, so this time I ordered a Shack Burger for takeout. The tightly pressed patty was delicious and had a nice meaty texture. I ordered a double, and added cheese on top of the fries to make it even heavier. (Wry smile) If they offered more sauce options, I might have more opportunities to eat it. The burger costs over 1,500 yen, so maybe it's not worth it?
