4/5 stars after considering that the cost of the beef bowl (and the black beef upgrade) was pretty reasonable for the quality of the meat that was served, although the portion size was on the smaller side (but you can add-on extra meat if you want). The wagyu sirloin was definitely great but also more costly. To be honest a lot of the beef sold in restaurants in Japan are pretty good so quality is not expected to differ largely between restaurants and price becomes a larger factor in determining whether the food worth it or not to you. The add-ons of the salad and beef soup were great for just ¥400 - the salad has a nice citrus sauce which allows you to refresh your palate, and the beef soup tasted quite homely and hearty. Overall a nice place to get a good dinner. Not gimmicky and worth revisiting every now and then when you’re around in the Harajuku area
Note: We ordered with additional meat Overall it was great but not a wow factor for us. I'd prefer ordering the roast beef one if i were to come back. Also you can always ask for more sauce (white/roast beef sauce) 👍🏻
One of those BTS famous spots in Harajuki. Its quite hidden and is down the basement of a building. We came for an early dinner and was able to get a seat right away. But before that, you need to order via the kiosk outside. Its not the most intuitive UX. I ordered the wagyu sirloin box. It was amazing but pricey. The serving was smaller than I anticipated. You may be able to get the same food for a cheaper price somewhere.
Red Rock is my all time favorite place to come eat whenever I’m in Tokyo. It’s a little hidden gem underground. It’s just steak over rice. So simple but so delicious!! You walk in, order at the kiosk, sit down, and they bring you your order. You eat and leave. So easy and hassle free. If you don’t speak Japanese, you don’t even have to talk to anyone! Highly recommend!
Tried this steak spot recently and overall it was good, but it didn’t quite wow me. The menu is very limited (literally just steak and rice), so don’t expect much variety. That said, the steak itself was really lovely and well cooked. I had the steak rice bowl which came with a sauce - that was good, and my boyfriend ordered the steak box that came with a hot stone so you can cook the steak yourself, which was a fun touch. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and the atmosphere felt a bit flat, although the music they were playing was great. Worth trying if you’re a steak lover, and want something quick and easy but I probably wouldn’t rush back.
