Stopped at 四十八漁場 池袋東口店 during our Tokyo trip and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the week. The sashimi was outstandingly fresh — you can really tell the fish comes straight from their own fishery network. The cuts had that clean, sweet flavour that only properly handled fish delivers, and the presentation was beautiful without being fussy. We tried the assorted sashimi platter and a few seasonal single items, and every piece was excellent. What really made the evening special, though, was Yuma-san’s service. Despite the language barrier — we don’t speak Japanese — he was incredibly attentive, patient, and genuinely warm throughout the meal. He took the time to walk us through the menu, made thoughtful recommendations based on what was freshest that day, and even explained where each fish was sourced from. He checked in at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive, and his effort to make sure we felt comfortable and well looked after turned a great meal into a memorable one. The rest of the team were equally welcoming, but Yuma-san really went the extra mile. Easy to find from the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station, and a great pick if you want high-quality sashimi in a relaxed izakaya setting rather than a stiff, formal restaurant. Will definitely return on the next Tokyo trip — and hopefully Yuma-san will be there again. Highly recommended.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ What really stood out, though, was the service.
