Lives up to the hype. The wagyu is rich and the thoughtful additions of the sauces and flavours and condiments, alongside up to 2 free refills, and the presentation… it was truly delicious. A meal for both your eyes and belly. I also really enjoyed the complementary oxtail soup, served scalding hot. I made myself an ochazuke type of dish with it. ~ 17:30 on Friday evening was seated straight away; the line started to build up after me. There’s foreign language menus including English. The jazz music and kissaten reminiscent aesthetic elevates the whole experience, too. I was surprised to be the only English speaker in the restaurant as everybody else was Japanese … usually at these “viral instagram” spots it’s the reverse. Definitely worthwhile 💚 (They forgot to give me sesame seeds the first time; you should have cream cheese, horse radish, toasted sesame, and perilla as condiments. Feel free to ask for more.)
This is exactly the kind of over-the-top comfort meal you hope it’ll be after seeing all the photos online. The roast beef bowl was tender, flavorful, generously portioned, and incredibly satisfying once everything gets mixed together with the egg yolk, sauces, and condiments. It’s definitely rich and heavy rather than refined, but that’s the whole point. The garlic chips, cream sauce, wasabi, and different toppings keep every bite interesting and stop it from feeling too overwhelming. There’s usually a bit of a queue and seating is tight, but the place has that classic Tokyo “specialty shop that does one thing really well” energy. Probably not something you eat every day, but absolutely worth the indulgence once in a while.
There are a handful of these around Tokyo and I’ve been to all of them. And they never disappoint. The roast beef is so good, and it just melts in your mouth. The egg just adds to the flavor, and the white sauce, onion sauce, and cabbage combine to make one tasty bowl. Add on the cream cheese and horseradish and you’re talking about an all-timer. Don’t sleep on the potato salad either. Service is always fast and friendly. An absolute must try.
It is a good experience trying to grill with this small grill here! The service is great and the food is awesome. I'm here around 5 p.m. and there's no queqe at all! What a perfect time to get a meal and beer. There're seats at the bar because I'm here alone and also the tables for those who come to group as well. The price is reasonable and the food is so nice. Also, the food comes out so fast. This place is clean and very well managed!
Loved our server (Shunikun), apologized for his English but he spoke fluently. Service was quick and the atmosphere was calming. Great place for a semi rich but highly flavourful meal. Enjoyed being able to customize my meal with the perilla leaves and wasabi to change the flavour. The egg *chefs kiss* really tied the whole meal together. Also, the beef soup - amazing.
