Excellent restaurant worthy of its two-Michelin star status! Every course was meticulous prepared and fantastic, from the bread and the amuse bouche, down to the dessert and petit fours! The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, and explained each course in detail in English. The highlights of the meal were unsurprisingly, the restaurant’s signature dishes: the fried ayu fish and the mushroom tart. The other dishes were great as well, but those two really stood out as the stars of the meal. I did not get the wine pairing as I didn’t want to drink too much, but even the by-the-glass wine selection was terrific, and the ones I picked, one white and one red, paired very well with my meal. Overall, a wonderful experience. One thing I was disappointed about however, was that I didn’t get to meet Chef Ryuta. I’m not sure if he was off that day or what happened exactly, but in nearly all my fine dining experiences in Japan, the chef would always come out and interact with the diners, or at least greet them briefly and say thanks, even if the meal was prepared by the second chef. He was nowhere to be seen that night though.
We can only highly recommend Ryuzu. The French cuisine was absolutely outstanding, and the wine selection was exceptional as well, the sommelier’s recommendations truly elevated the entire dining experience. Every dish was beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and presented with incredible attention to detail. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, and the service throughout the evening was warm, professional, and attentive! Thank you
Excellent service. Beer, wine and juices are great. All the dishes served are beautifully crafted. We will come back!
Very high quality French Japanese fusion restuarant. Excellent service. We came here for a weekday lunch. We made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance. They have table seating and some bench seating. Table seating is a lot more comfortable. We selected table seating when we made our reservation, so we were seated on a table. We pre ordered the 5 course lunch for JPY12k each. We added a glass of white wine. Every dish presented to us was excellent. They use very good ingredients. The waiter told us the chef is from Niigata so a lot of his dishes incorporates ingredients from his home town. Service was a good pace. The dishes were introduced to us when they were bought to our table. We were in the restaurant for about 2 hours. The only thing I did not like was that no menu was presented to us at the start of the meal so we did not know what dishes were going to be presented to us. The risotto with shrimp from Niigata, the chef's signature shitake mushroom, and the creamy foie gras dishes were excellent standouts. Overall the food is very good. We spent JPY33k for the 2 of us for lunch
Firstly, I'd like to say that as someone who doesn't visit Michelin restaurants often, I'm judging this a little harsher compared to usual ones as it's easy to witness the complexity and effort that goes into it. First the good, I loved the desserts, pumpkin soup and some of the custom fish dishes that were created for the day. The sauces were exquisite for some of them. There were some I didn't like as well but that's a part of it. This is not necessarily bad, but as it often happens with Michelin restaurants, anything off is really noticeable and tends to ruin the overall experience. I love my meats and was really looking forward to the main course. When I got it, the server said I could eat with my fingers and provided a finger bowl. I tried eating it that way and the lamb was so tough that I could not even chew through and had to put it back which was really awkward , so tough that it took me a while to even cut it with my knife. What irked me was the misleading instructions. If it was meant to be that tough(which I doubt), why ask me to use my fingers. The language barrier unfortunately added to the issue. The lack of any ownership on bringing up the issue was disappointing.
